MCS is hiring for an Audio Visual Engineer / Estimator in Orlando, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.
The Audio Visual Engineer / Estimator must demonstrate a strong ability to analyze project specifications and accurately estimate the costs associated with AV components, labor, and materials. The Audio Visual Engineer / Estimator will require good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government regulations.
Typical duties include:
Reviewing bid documents, prints, and specifications to understand project requirements.
Selecting the appropriate materials based on prints and specifications.
Making basic electrical calculations for feeders, panels, transformers, and voltage drops.
Writing comprehensive scopes of work for estimates.
Utilizing estimating software, preferably Procore, to prepare accurate cost estimates.
Preparing bills of materials (BOMs) and requesting quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
Analyzing quotes received and making budget decisions.
Managing deadlines and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, if required.
Providing value engineering (VE) solutions to increase project profitability.
Required:
Educational Requirements: CTS certification, CTS-D preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an AV Estimator or Engineer.
In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Proficiency in estimating software.
Field experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of bid documents, prints, and specifications.
Ability to read and interpret prints, shop drawings, and specifications.
Strong material selection skills based on project requirements.
Excellent ability to make basic electrical calculations.
Demonstrated capacity to manage deadlines and work on multiple projects.
Proven experience in providing value engineering solutions.
Exceptional problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
